Tilly
One day, a little girl called Tilly went shopping with her mom and dad.
The school summer holidays were starting soon and Tilly wanted to buy a new tennis racket. Tilly enjoys playing tennis and wants to be a tennis player when she is older.

Tilly was surprised to see so many tennis rackets in the sports shop and did her little wriggle as she couldn’t control her excitement.
“Oh my, I want to buy them all!” she chuckled.
Mom and dad smiled at Tilly and asked her to calm down as she was getting so excited.
Tilly took her time in deciding which tennis racket she wanted and finally chose a grey one which fitted perfectly into her hand.

Dad walked over to the counter to pay for Tilly’s new tennis racket while Tilly and her mom waited outside.
“I’m so excited to play with my new tennis racket,” said Tilly, hugging her mom tightly.
When they arrived home Tilly asked her dad if she could call Tom and ask him over to play. Tom is Tilly’s best friend from school and always enjoys playing tennis with Tilly.
“Why don’t you eat your lunch first?” asked dad, “and then you can call Tom.”
“Okay dad,” said Tilly cheerfully.
Tilly went to the kitchen to wash her hands as she knows it’s really important to keep her hands clean, especially before meal times.

“Time to wash my hands, bit of splish and splosh,” she said, “lots of bubbles and rubbing between my fingers. Super, all done!”
“Well done Tilly for remembering to wash your hands,” said her dad looking pleased. Tilly’s dad had reminded Tilly a few times that keeping her hands clean was very important to stop germs spreading.
After lunch, a very excited Tilly called Tom. “Hi Tom, can you come over to play today? I’ve had a new tennis racket and I’m so excited to play with it.”
“Oh wow!” said Tom, “that’s really cool.” He asked his mom if he could go over and play with Tilly. “My mom said we can come over at 2 o’clock” said Tom.

“That’s great Tom, see you later,” said Tilly.
An hour later there was a knock at the door.
“Mom, dad, Tom’s here,” said Tilly delightfully.
Tilly and her mom went to open the door and greeted Tom and his mom with beaming smiles. “Hello,” they said.
“Hello,” replied Tom and his mom cheerfully, stepping into the hallway.
“Come on Tom, let’s play!” said Tilly doing her little wriggle and running off into the garden.
Tom suddenly had a fit of giggles at Tilly’s little wriggle as he ran after her. Both moms also found Tilly’s wriggle quite amusing.
It was a lovely, sunny afternoon and Tilly’s mom had put drinks and fruit out on the garden table for both children.
Tilly quickly showed Tom her new tennis racket. “Come on, let’s do our warm ups first and then we can have a tennis tournament.”
Both children did their warm ups.
“1 2 3 4 5 clap your hands and touch your toes
6 7 8 9 10 turnaround and stretch your arms
Let’s jog on the spot
And be a robot
Now that we’re all done
It’s time to have some fun.”

“Keeping active is fun and I love playing tennis because it keeps me moving a lot,” said Tilly. “I run here, there and everywhere trying to hit the ball.”
The children decided to play a tournament. A bounce here and a boing there and not forgetting when Tilly hit the ball straight at the kitchen window. “Ooppss!” she whispered cheekily as her mom looked out of the window with a frown.
“Sorry mom,” shouted Tilly, blowing her a kiss.
“This is for match point Tom!” said Tilly excitedly.
Tilly hit the ball over to Tom who did an amazing underarm shot and then Tilly was so fast to return the ball that Tom was left standing in amazement. “Tilly the Tennis Champion!” he announced.

“Thanks Tom,” said Tilly proudly. “Playing tennis gives me so much confidence and makes my bones stronger.”
“Tennis makes my brain sharper,” said Tom thoughtfully, “because I have to keep moving around so quickly.”
Tom bent down to tie his lace, “my brain works so fast because I’m a clever cloggs!” he said with a cheeky grin.
“Let’s wash our hands,” said Tilly. Tom and Tilly both went into the kitchen to wash their hands.

“My mom says that germs are very clever because they are invisible,” said Tom. “I’m a clever cloggs, so I always make sure my hands are clean. Before eating my food I always wash my hands for about 20 seconds,” said Tom proudly.
“Me too!” said Tilly, “I don’t let germs trick me so I always keep my hands clean and remember to wash my hands before I eat.”
“Well done,” said Tom’s mom who heard them talking.
“You are both very clever children,” said Tilly’s mom smiling at them both.
After Tom and Tilly had washed their hands, they went back outside to the garden to drink their water and eat their fruit.
Both children went and sat at the table and had their drinks.
“This water tastes so good,” said Tom after taking a long sip. “Just what I need to get my energy back and to help me concentrate.”

Tilly’s mom had left some strawberries and grapes on the table too. Tilly ate some yummy, juicy grapes and Tom munched on the strawberries.
“Yummy strawberries in my tummy!” said Tom, licking his lips.
