Evie
It was Sunday morning, Tom had just arrived with his parents at his cousin, Evie's house.

Evie is a few years older than Tom but they still enjoy spending time together.
Tom rang the doorbell, eagerly waiting to see Evie. Evie came to the door with her mom following behind.
"Hello," said Tom and his parents.
"Oh my goodness Evie!" said Tom's mom. "What’s happened to your arm?"

"Hello my darlings, why don't you all come in first?" suggested Evie's mom.
They all made their way into the lounge and sat down. Tom was still in a bit of shock seeing Evie's arm in plaster.
Evie's mom went to make everyone a cup of tea while Evie told Tom and his parents about what happened to her arm.
"Well," began Evie, "last week I was out at the park with my friend and we were on our bikes.”

“I like to go out on my bike with dad,” added Tom.
“We go out most weekends as keeping active is fun and we like to spend time together,” continued Evie.
Evie's mom returned with drinks and biscuits.
"Carry on Evie," said Tom who was getting quite impatient to hear what happened next.
"Oh yes, back to my story of fracturing my arm," said Evie looking at her arm. "While we were on our bikes at the park there were a couple of dogs who started barking loudly."

"Were they big dogs?" interrupted Tom eagerly.
"One of the dogs was bigger than the other one," replied Evie. "I started looking at the little puppy as it was just so cute and then I lost my balance."
"What happened next?" asked Tom, leaning forward with much interest.
"Well, I lost my balance and fell off my bike," explained Evie. "I tried to balance myself, but my friend was riding her bike quite close to me and ended up riding into me and my bike."
"Oh no Evie," said Tom's mom who is always reminding Tom to ride his bike carefully.
"We both fell off our bikes and landed on the grass," explained Evie. "The cute little puppy ran over to us which was awesome." Evie described the puppy.
"The puppy was so cute and when I tried to stroke it, I screamed as my arm was hurting. Mom came running over to me and helped me and my friend get up and pick up our bikes."
"Can you believe Evie was still trying to stroke the puppy?" said Evie's mom shaking her head at Evie.
"Yes, but you did say it was cute mom," said Evie with a cheeky grin.
"Yes, the puppy was cute, but my main concern was to make sure you and Olivia were not injured," continued Evie's mom. "You were both very lucky that you were wearing your helmets as the way you both fell I thought you may have hurt your heads."
"We only let Tom ride his bike if he wears his helmet," explained Tom's dad who goes out riding with Tom and has had many conversations about bike safety.
"Wearing bike helmets is super important when we go out riding," said Tom and then he eagerly asked, "what happened next Evie?"
"So when I couldn't move my arm without it hurting I realised something was wrong," said Evie. "Mom took me straight to Accident and Emergency at the hospital as it was important to find out why my arm was hurting so much."
“You were very brave Evie,” said Tom’s mom.
“I was trying to be brave but I did cry. I had to support my injured arm with my other arm which helped control the pain," explained Evie.
“Evie was very good on the way to the hospital by supporting her fractured arm,” said Evie’s mom.
"It was my first time in Accident and Emergency at the hospital," said Evie. "I was feeling a bit scared but mom told me it was nothing to worry about and the doctors and nurses were going to help me."
"Accident and Emergency departments are very busy every day dealing with emergencies so it's important to be sure it's where you need to go," explained Evie's mom.

"After we told the doctor that I fell off my bike, the doctor told me not to worry and that they were going to take an x-ray of my arm to find out why it was hurting," said Evie.
"What's an x-ray?" asked Tom looking confused.
"X-rays are special pictures of our body which look closely at our bones," explained Evie. "My x-ray showed the doctor that I had fractured my arm when I fell off my bike."
Tom’s mom smiled at Evie and was very impressed that she had learnt about x-rays.
“That sounds painful Evie," said Tom looking over at his parents. "I'm going to be extra careful when I'm riding my bike and I promise to always wear my helmet."
"My friend Olivia was lucky as she wasn’t hurt so didn’t need to go to the hospital.
"Right then, let's have our drinks darlings. Go and wash your hands first as I know you will both want some of these yummy biscuits," said Evie's mom with a smile.
Tom and Evie both went to the kitchen to wash their hands.
"So, washing your hands is a bit tricky," said Tom once he had washed his hands. "Shall I wash your hand for you?" he asked helpfully.

"Yes please Tom," replied Evie.
Tom washed Evie's hand and explained to her that he counts to 20 while washing his hands as then he knows he's washed any germs away. Evie and Tom both counted to 20 and then Tom said "all done."
"Thanks Tom, having my arm in a plaster and sling is quite frustrating. I'm sorry but I won't be able to play football with you today," said Evie looking disappointed.
"It's okay," replied Tim, "we can play next time."
"Why don't we ask my mom to go in goal while you take penalties?" suggested Evie. "Come on, let’s finish our biscuits and drinks and persuade my mom to play," said Evie with a big grin.
After Evie and Tom had finished their drinks and biscuits, they all went out into the garden.
"I told you mom is easily persuaded," said Evie excitedly. "Let's see your brilliant penalties Tom."
Evie's mom regularly goes into goal when Evie practices her penalties so she was quite comfortable taking Tom on.
"Wait mom!" shouted Evie, “you need to do your warm ups first and you too Tom."
In all of his excitement to score a goal, Tom had forgotten. It was a good job that Evie was there to remind him as warm ups are really important.
Tom and Evie's mom found a clear space and started their warm ups.
“1 2 3 4 5 clap your hands and touch your toes,
6 7 8 9 10 turnaround and stretch your arms,
Let’s jog on the spot,
And be a robot,
Now that we’re all done,
It’s time to have some fun.”
After finishing their warm ups they began.

"Come on Tom, show me your skills," called Evie's mom, rolling up her sleeves and smiling.
Tom kicked the football which went really fast and straight into the goal.
"Oh no," shouted Evie's mom, smiling while kicking the football back to Tom for his second shot as she got ready to save the next penalty.
